Anders Colsefni was the original lead vocalist and a founding member of the heavy metal group Slipknot. He was also a part of various local bands before Slipknot, such as Inveigh Catharsis, Body Pit, and Vexx. He was replaced by Corey Taylor in 1997.

After the band acquired Corey Taylor, they still wanted Anders to perform backing vocals and percussion, but he got tired of the idea, and he quit publicly during Slipknots performance on September 12th, 1997.

Post-Slipknot, Anders has been in various bands throughout the years. These include Painface, On A Pale Horse, Vice Grip Throttle, and has done a track with New Zealand band Kaosis. In 2023 Anders toured Australia playing the Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat. album in full with his backing band "The Feeders". A European tour and US tour are planned sometime in the future. A re-recorded version of Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat. was recorded with Kaosis but was released without Anders' permission, leading to him cancelling his European tour and moving it back in his plans to finish the album himself.

Mask

In place of wearing a mask like most Slipknot members, Anders wore electrical tape on his face, paint on his flesh, and a fur skirt. The tape was inspired from Dogfish Rising, where Shawn rips tape to make a special noise. The get-up was only worn on special occasions.

Trivia

  • Colsefni's "image" in the band was just him role-playing as his werewolf character from the Rage card game, Werewolf:the Apocalypse. The tape wrapped around his head represented him bounding the beast within. In the songs his growling vocals was his "werewolf" form, and his melodic vocals were his "human" form. The other members would also role play as their characters from the game back then as well, but Anders would get a lot more into it than others.
  • In an interview, he said his height was 11'4" in Crinos form, which is the war form of some shapeshifters in Werewolf: The Apocalypse.
  • Anders got the tribal S tattooed on his leg 2 years before it became Slipknot's logo.
  • Anders recorded a sample of himself whispering "crooowwwsss", it was used as part of a live intro back in 1996. It was also uploaded to Slipknot's old website in 2000.
