"Spit It Out" was the first new song the band wrote after the addition of Corey Taylor on vocals in August 1997. As such, it has gone through many different versions. Multiple riffs from "Nature" were reused on "Spit It Out". As one of Slipknot's most popular songs, it was remixed multiple times and is currently the band's third-most performed song, with 933 performances according to setlist.fm.
When this song is performed live, there is often a small test called the Zero Bullshit before the "fuck me, I'm all out of enemies" section. Corey encourages the entire audience to get down on the ground, then repeats the bridge again. This time, he replaces "good enough, had enough" with "jump the fuck up", which is a command to the audience.
